Accepting Jesus as Savior is so easy that even a child can understand the steps. There are several things you must know:
1. According to Romans 3:10, no one is righteous (perfect). Our sin nature separates us from God and He demands holiness for a relationship with Him.
2. No matter how hard you try doing good and living right, Romans 3:23 says we will always come short of the God’s glory. Only Christ’s death on the Cross satisfied the requirements God has.
3. Romans 6:23 reminds us that sin results in death, but the gift of God (His Son sent to redeem us) is the Open Door to eternal life. Jesus came to this earth to pay for everything wrong you’ve ever done, said or thought.
4. Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” It’s not enough to just believe with your head, trusting with your heart is mandatory.
Maybe you’re asking the question, “So, how can I experience Jesus coming into my life?” If you truly want freedom from your sin, say this simple prayer.
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the Cross for my sins, was buried and rose on the third day. By faith, I invite Him into my heart to save and forgive me of sins. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen”
If you have just prayed that prayer, based upon the promises found in Scripture, your name has been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Salvation isn’t based on a feeling, but on faith. Satan may try making you doubt, because the experience isn’t like other individuals. Stand on the Bible and what it says. (John 3:16 and Romans 10:13).
The next thing to do is tell someone about your decision. It can be a neighbor or anyone that’s a close friend. You can even leave me a message here so I can praise God for using our ministry (see our address at the bottom if you don’t have a computer with internet access).
Find a Bible-believing church that preaches the Gospel and will help you grow as a new Christian.
Begin reading God’s word, so you’ll get to know your Heavenly Father better. Plus, this is how He will speak to you.
Talk with God daily in prayer. This doesn’t have to be anything lengthy or eloquent, just talk with Him as you would a family member.
May God richly bless as you begin following Christ.
